Tania Archer, 61, has embarked on her dream career as a Personal Care Worker at our Sorell Community, Ningana site, thanks to a scholarship that supported her to study for a Certificate III in Individual Care. 

Tania was awarded a Uniting AgeWell scholarship in 2025. It’s part of a firm commitment to supporting employees to flourish in their aged care careers. 

Each year, Uniting AgeWell opens the Scholarship Program to support opportunities for professional and personal development, as well as further education. Now in its third year, the Scholarship Program represents an exciting time to recognise more of the individuals who lend their excellence to Uniting AgeWell. 

Tania has lived in Tasmania and worked as a cleaner for most of her working life, including in the laundry and as a Food Services Assistant at Ningana over the last nine years. 

Prior to working at Uniting AgeWell, she worked as a cleaner at a number of hotels, pubs and private homes. 

“I was over the moon to receive the scholarship,” says Tania. “For about five years now, it has been my dream to work as a Personal Care Worker — to be able to care for the residents and be part of their ongoing wellness and wellbeing. I am absolutely thrilled!” 

Tania, who regards Ningana as “home away from home”, is loving her new role and says, “Uniting AgeWell is a great organisation to work for. The staff at Ningana are all so welcoming and kind. I hope to work here for at least another ten years!”
