The power of music and partnerships

Residential Care
It’s pretty special to have a live orchestra play in your lounge room!
The lucky residents at Uniting AgeWell Latrobe Community Strathdevon certainly had a wonderful afternoon transported by achingly beautiful classical pieces played by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
Lifestyle Coordinator Melanie Webster says residents dressed up for the occasion, and turned out in force to listen to the pop-up concert. Family members also attended, and everyone was thrilled when the musicians mingled with the audience during a delicious tea of fruit cake and scones after the show, chatting and swapping stories.
“Music has a language all of its own,” says Melanie. “It is uplifting and speaks to people in a way that words can’t.”
Uniting AgeWell has a long-standing partnership with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, which has held a number of live concerts at Uniting AgeWell’s residential aged care communities in Tasmania .
This partnership has also enabled streaming on demand of their concerts to all Uniting AgeWell Residential Care communities.
