Thanks for caring

It’s Aged Care Employee Day on Sunday August 7.

And we would like to pay tribute to our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment and dedication in supporting our residents, home care and AgeWell Centre clients and all their loved ones. Everyone who makes up our wider Uniting AgeWell family.

Some employees work in more obvious caring roles – like nurses, care workers, and allied health professionals including physiotherapists and exercise physiologists. And the lifestyle staff and chaplains who facilitate emotional and spiritual well-being.

We also pay tribute to the teams who pull together to get things done. The cleaners, chefs, kitchen staff, contractors and those in admin. Some are seen; others work in the background and aren’t. But together they all make a huge difference. Each and every one of them.

And quietly, without any fuss or fanfare, our employees continue to mirror Uniting AgeWell’s five values: kindness, respect, integrity, innovation and inclusion. Day in and day out.

And while we publicly acknowledge our employees today, rest assured they are all appreciated every single day. Not just by us, but by the older people we serve. Their cheery smiles – sometimes behind face visors – when they serve a cup of tea, their efforts to make residents laugh and smile. The way they make the older people we are privileged to serve, feel valued and special.

And so, in honour of Aged Care Employee Day we invite you to read about why our staff are proud to be aged care workers and to say #thanksforcaring

Aged Care Employee Day falls on a Sunday in 2022.

It is an important reminder that care happens every day.

And Uniting AgeWell staff are living their values every day of the week.
