Hope renewed

Christmas can be messy – birth, family gatherings, strangers in our midst, confusion over what is happening, joy and wonder, nowhere to call home, plans overturned.

The birth of Jesus, God’s love expressed on earth, is not a romantic notion, a commercial opportunity, or an easily understood expression of faith.

This Christmas, let us acknowledge the place of real love. Fierce and tender, complex and simple. May we live filled with the hope that the mystery of God’s love lives within each one of us, recognising that we, and all people, are sacred. May we pause and pray for peace.
