Uniting AgeWell’s centre-based services have been promoted in a lengthy interview on Melbourne community radio station, Golden Days Radio.

Regional Manager, AgeWell Centres Melbourne, Amanda Megehan was featured on the station’s ‘Community Magazine’ program, promoting the broad range of services the organisation offered older people in the community.

In the 14-minute chat with presenter Loretta Simmons, Amanda said Uniting AgeWell considered all aspects of health – physical, mental, social and emotional – when supporting older people to live well.

“Customers come into our centres to access services that will support their health and wellbeing and their capacity to connect with friends, family members and carers,” she said.

“They are able to choose what services they need for their health and wellbeing.”

Loretta was interested to learn more about the services Uniting AgeWell offered people, particularly those living alone, who wanted to interact with peers or like-minded people.

“Quite a number of our centres offer really enriching social programs and day outing programs that are tailored to the needs, interests and passions of our clients,” Amanda said.

“They include anything from music therapy or art therapy, cultural celebrations, games and all sorts of other wonderful activities that help our clients feel connected to the community.”

Older people can access the services discussed in the interview either through private funding, or the government-funded Commonwealth Home Support Programme.
