Stronger Together

Our goal is to be Partners in Care - we want to encourage our customers, their family and friends to be active participants.

By working together as Partners in Care we can achieve better outcomes for all. At the heart of our approach to service delivery is effective and respectful communication.

Everyone's ageing journey with Uniting AgeWell is unique. It might include home care and community services, independent retirement living or residential aged care.

Our team are here to provide support and to help you access resources to communicate your needs or those of the person you are caring for effectively.

You may also like to download our Sharing the Care kit, designed to help you navigate emotional pressures and compassion fatigue, paperwork and sorting things out, supporting a person with dementia, safety concerns and more.

Visiting our residential care communities

We believe relationships are vital for overall happiness and actively support each of our residents in welcoming guests. This includes well-behaved, leashed pets.

To ensure the wellbeing of both residents and staff, we ask that you respect our Code of Conduct and Safe Visiting Guidelines when visiting our residential care communities.

Top tips for effective communication

Let's work together to achieve the best level of care for all.

  • Treat everyone with respect.
  • Remain calm and avoid raising your voice. Don’t allow your anger to dictate the conversation.
  • Focus on the specific request or concern.
  • Aim for constructive and outcomes focused conversations.
  • Consider the situation from other angles – this will help you focus on what is in your control. And what is not.
  • Ask or decide on the best person to hear you out or help you.
  • Help identify possible solutions and partner in the solution.

We are listening. Please be kind.

Please remember, aggressive, intimidating and racist behaviour is never okay. Emotions may be high, but there is never an excuse to treat others poorly.

Tips on how to make an effective complaint are available on the Australian Government's, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission website.
