Sharing how we care

We were delighted to assist and give advice to visitors at the Care and Ageing Well expo over the weekend.

Over 2000 people headed to the Melbourne Convention Centre, with hundreds chatting to our staff at our stall seeking advice and information about a range of topics, including home care services, allied health, respite and the financial ins and outs of residential aged care and Independent retirement living.

Director of Home Care North West Metro and Barwon Sherry-Ann Bailey said, “Visitors were impressed by the services we offer and asked how to switch aged care providers to join us,” Sherry-Ann says. “Others who receive home care services through us wanted to find out more information for friends. We’re already receiving a lot of follow-up calls.”

Sherry-Ann says there were also inquiries about careers and we booked in three people for home care job interviews!

The mini-exercise sessions run on the stage on both days by Exercise Physiologist Cass Lester and Allied Health Assistant Emelia Johnston were very well received, with visitors not only participating but coming to our stand afterwards to see how they could join up to continue the good work!

Both Cass and Emelia also spoke on stage about what types of workouts are best for cardiovascular and bone health, muscle retention, falls prevention and overall wellness.

We were also pleased to welcome Victorian Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt, who met our team at our stand.

Visitors also enjoyed using the reality goggles to go on virtual tours and were fascinated to learn this is one of the ways of bringing joy to those with cognitive challenges like dementia. There was also uptake on the physical assessment tests done on the spot.
