On International Nurses Day on 12 May, we honour our wonderful nurses and nurses-in-training.
Celebratory morning and afternoon teas will be held to recognise the amazing work that our nurses do each and everyday.
The theme this year is ‘Our Nurses. Our future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies,’ and shifts the spotlight to a vital issue – the wellbeing of the nurses themselves.
The day is always celebrated on the birthday of Florence Nightingale and demonstrates the high regard in which our nurses are held by our customers, their families and the wider community.
We are committed to providing ongoing professional learning and development to our nurses, who are also encouraged to learn new skills and participate in research and innovation to improve quality of life outcomes for those they support.
So, here’s a shout out to all our nurses – in our residential aged care communities and those who deliver care to customers in their homes. Thank you! All that you do. and the difference you make in people’s lives is deeply appreciated.
Read the inspiring stories of three of our nurses here:
- Nepalese-born Shiva Nepalprajapati has the best of both worlds. A career she loves in a country she’s proud to call home. She says it’s an exciting time to be nursing in aged care.
- Indian-born Soumya George says caring for older people is more than just a profession – it’s a calling. She says her role provides her deep fulfillment.
- Alyson Gilmore is enjoying being able to earn while she learns. She’s works as a Home Care Worker with the Grampians team in Ballarat while studying for her Nursing Degree.
