Uniting AgeWell to provide home care in Loddon Mallee

October 6, 2016

A highly respected not-for-profit provider of senior services in Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting AgeWell, will provide Home Care Packages to hundreds of seniors in the Loddon Mallee region following an agreement with Swan Hill Rural City Council (SHRCC).

SHRCC resolved in July to transition out of the administration of its 273 Home Care Packages.

It sought to identify a third party to take over the packages and continue to deliver the same high quality of home care services to Loddon Mallee seniors.

SHRCC CEO John McLinden said the Council appointed Uniting AgeWell as the new Approved Provider following a comprehensive tender process.

“The number one priority of this Council has been to ensure aged care packages continue to be delivered in this region and a shift to a new provider is done as seamlessly as possible,” he said.

“Transfer of the packages to Uniting AgeWell ensures the ongoing provision of Home Care Packages to seniors in the Loddon Mallee, and they remain with an organisation that understands the needs of seniors in the region.

“Uniting AgeWell already provides 70 home care packages, social support and respite and carer support in the Bendigo region, while its Strath-Haven Bendigo residential care site has been operating for almost 40 years.”

Uniting AgeWell CEO Andrew Kinnersly said they were honoured to be providing home care to Loddon Mallee seniors, and building on the organisation’s determination to provide outstanding services across regional Victoria and Tasmania.

“We are committed to providing continuity and quality of services to the 273 seniors currently receiving home care packages through SHRCC and the entire Loddon Mallee Region, and ensuring they receive the support and care they want to continue living independently and ageing well at home,” he said.

“As more people choose to live in their homes for longer, providing high quality, tailored support is integral.”

Mr Kinnersly said Uniting AgeWell would undertake regular consultations with SHRCC staff and service partners to ensure a smooth transition.

The Home Care Package program covers the LGAs of Swan Hill, Mildura, Gannawarra, Loddon, Central Goldfields, Mount Alexander, Buloke, Macedon, Greater Bendigo and Campaspe.

Official transfer of the packages from SHRCC to Uniting AgeWell is now underway and is expected to be complete in December.
