Thursday 15 December marks the official transfer of 273 Home Care Packages for seniors in the Loddon Mallee region from Swan Hill Rural City Council (Council) to Uniting AgeWell, a highly respected not-for-profit provider of senior services in Victoria and Tasmania.

This follows a decision by Council in July to transition out of the administration of its 273 Home Care Packages and through a comprehensive tender process, identify a third party to take over the packages to ensure the same high quality of home care services continues to be delivered to Loddon Mallee seniors.

Following the announcement of Uniting AgeWell as the new Approved Provider in October, Council and Uniting AgeWell have worked closely together, and with service partners, to ensure a smooth transition.

Council CEO John McLinden said the Council was pleased with the collaborative and consultative approach that each organisation had taken.

“The number one priority of this Council has been to ensure aged care packages continue to be delivered in this region and a shift to a new provider is done as seamlessly as possible,” he said. “I believe we have successfully achieved this.”

Uniting AgeWell CEO Andrew Kinnersly said the organisation was proudly committed to providing high quality, tailored home care to Loddon Mallee seniors and maintaining a local focus.

“Ensuring Loddon Mallee seniors receive the support and care they want to continue living independently and ageing well at home, with ready access to the services they need to do that, is a key motivator for Uniting AgeWell,” he said.

“We will have a strong local presence with staff and offices located in Swan Hill, Mildura, Kerang, Echuca, Serpentine and Bendigo and direct care arrangements with existing service partners across the region.

“Together we can continue to make a real difference to the lives of older people in the Loddon Mallee.”

The Home Care Package program covers the LGAs of Swan Hill, Mildura, Gannawarra, Loddon, Central Goldfields, Mount Alexander, Buloke, Macedon, Greater Bendigo and Campaspe.
