The 2024 National Mental Health Webinar Series aims to improve mental health for older people in residential aged care services. Episode 5, the final in the Series, will explore the clinical and care challenges in managing persons with a mental health crisis in residential aged care.
The common challenges for aged and health care professionals are early identification to prevent a crisis, stabilising the situation when it occurs, accessing mental health support quickly and knowing how to manage a resident and staff after a mental health crisis.
As the subject matter may be distressing, please ensure you have a personal mental health safety plan, which may include how to contact your organisation’s employee support line. Lifeline is available on 13 11 14 or access at: https://www.lifeline.org.au
Key speakers: Professor Joseph Ibrahim, Professor Brain Draper AM, Conjoint Professor, School of Psychiatry, UNSW
